Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations on removing hard water spots from glass? My car is only about a month and a half old so those spots haven't really set in yet. Amazon reviews for products seem to be mixed for everything so it's hard to choose.

For those mild/medium water spots that haven't etched yet, I highly recommend CarPro Spotless. You can use this on the paint without harming the clear coat. I recently bought and used it myself.

If it doesn't work, I will have another heavy duty product that I have tried with success to recommend to you. However, I think CarPro Spotless will be enough for your situation.

As mentioned, CarPro Spotless - Water Spot & Mineral Remover is a great choice for those spots that have not breached the surface of the substrate they are on.

Here is a review of CarPro Spotless that I did... this shows how to use the product on paint, but the process is identical for spots on glass.


If the spots are more severe and have begun etching into the surface, you will need to polish the surface. Depending on the severity you may be able to use normal automotive paint polish on your glass, otherwise you will need something more capable such as CarPro Ceriglass Polish that contains Cerium Oxide which is necessary for defect removal in glass and will also need glass cutting pads (note: I do not recommend using Ceriglass via machine if you are not aware of proper glass polishing practices).

You can also use a product called Barkeepers friend.It's available at Walmart, with the Ajax products.Worked wonders with my heavily spotted windows.Make it into a paste then apply.Then was off.If you get it on your paint was off immediately.

As mentioned above Carpro Spotless is an excellent product for removing water stains.

For those "stubborn" stains I might suggest something a bit more aggressive.
Rain-X® X-treme Clean™ with a polishing pad or better yet a Dual Action polisher.

I second the barkeepers friend product. I have used it to as well to remove severe hard water spots.
It is oxalic acid in light strength.

I've had good results with Amaz. It's like a wet paste wax. You apply it like a wax, let it dry to a haze and then buff off with a soft cloth or towel. It's always worked well for me.

have you tried using a razor blade? spray some kind of lube or soapy water then use a razor blade at a 45 degree angle. Kind of like shaving. I've had great success with stoners invisible glass and razor blade
