leather cleaner?
after years of wear and tear you all know what leather seats can look like. are there any good products out there that will really clean up my seats and make them look presentable again? i once saw on someones web page a product where they just put some of it on and let it sit for a little while and then rubbed it off and the seats looked almost new. but i never bookmarked it

Ask Daddy-O over on the Detailing forum; Guitarman is also a detailer.
Haven't heard of the product that you describe; I'd be skeptical of anything that sounds too good to be true..........

BigD,
What make/model/year automobile are you inquiring about?
What color leather? What shape is it in?
Cracked? Scratched? Faded? Dirty? Stained?
Answer these questions and take alook at:

As Daddy-o suggested leatherique has been noted as one of the best for restoration from a few other internet sites. Not sure if anyone here has tried it though.
I did the Lexol thing with the pH balanced cleaner and conditioner but the conditioner doesn't do much. I was told by an uppolstery shop that conditioning leather to something to close to it's orignal condition takes alot of work and repetitive conditioning. It's not a one time deal.
I do recommend the cleaner as mentioned it's pH balanced and won't harm your leather. Buy the spray bottle if you can - it's much easier to spray and scrub with a wet rag.
Try leatherique for conditioning, repeat several times, maybe a couple times a week for 2 weeks or so. try Zaino leahter conditioner for a GREAT smelling addition. Lexol conditioner has a smell that is not the most plesant odor.

Leatheriquie is by far one of the best leather products available on the market today. My '95 LS spent 4 years outside in the hot summer sun...which led to dry, hard leather. After only 2 treatments of Leatherique my leather was MUCH softer, almost like new. I'm going to do 2 more treatments when the weather heats up this spring/summer. The only downside is that it is a little pricey. I just bought the gallon jugs because the shelf life is indefinite.
Check it out at www.leatherique.com
Also go to www.autopia.org (GREAT detailing enthusiast's site) and do a search for "Leatherique" There are some great before/after pics.
Hope this helps!

Leatherique IS that good.
Not cheap though. Their "Rejuvenator oil" is the product that brings softness back to old dried out leather, used some years ago on an old Cadillac with great results. Their "crack filler" is just the ticket for you, as an alternative to reupholstering the seat.
I have also dyed leathers and made them look new, so you can look into their dyes also. I haven't used their dyes (used SEM brand and DuPont ) but they likely work under the same techniques and chemical dye formulas. Good luck.

Has anyone tried "Surflex Leather Soffner", the product that gets left on overnight and covered with plastic wrap? I'm considering using it on my back bench when the weather warms up.
