Does anyone know the differences between the Lexus Leathers?
For example in the LS430 there were several options, I detailed it at length here
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...01-2006-a.html
There were 3 main types of Leather that they offered
Standard leather (perforated if climate-controlled front seats was an added option)
Ecru, Ivory, & Light Charcoal (01-03)
Cashmere, & Ash (04-06)
Black (01-06)
Luxury Leather: Only available on the Ultra Luxury or Custom Luxury trims
Nappa Leather $1,460
Ecru (01-06)
Saddle (04-06)
or
Aniline Leather $2,100
Bordeaux (01-03)
Black (01-06)
From reading the Wikipedia entries on Nappa & Aniline I have a basic idea.
But I still don't know which is the most durable, the thickest, or which is the longest lasting, or which is easiest to maintain & clean.
It seems Aniline could benefit from conditioners because it doesn't have a polyurethane protectant layer. But it is also more prone to stains because of this? (possibly why it's only offered in Black or Bordeaux)
From what I've read the Nappa leathers seem to be softer & have a protectant. I've read people call them "Comfort Leather" on CL a few times. I'm not sure if that's what Lexus called it at some point (couldn't find it called that any old brochures) or it's just what people decided to describe it as.
The standard leathers aren't called anything other than Leather so I don't know exactly what type of leather they are and if they are more or less likely to stand the test of time.
Does anybody have an idea as to how these leathers compare & in what areas they differ?
Thanks
