Default Need advice about scratches near trunk

I am a 2002 LS430. There are some scratches on the plastic piece above the rear bumper after someone slid something (luggage?) over it on its way in or out of the trunk. Will touch up paint work to cover the scratches?

Try polishing them out first. If that doesn't work, then a touch-up pen will not yield good results, you will have to either spray can the area yourself and blend as best as possible, or seek out a professional repair.

'plastic piece above the rear bumper" - is that a clear plastic (bumper applique)? If so, that can be removed and replaced - should be fairly cheap. I got one for my GS for about $30 or so

Thanks. It is not a bumper applique. I will have to try to use polish first, then spray paint.
