Best way to rid your car of dog hair
I detail cars for fun, so I have to find ways to be efficient.
With dog hair, what I found that works, fill a bucket with clean water. With dog hair on the carpet, stick your fingers into the water, and scrape them like your raking and all of the dog fur rolls and comes up for you to remove. Here are the "before and after" pictures.
(I thought of licking your fingers and doing it, but.....!!!! )

Pet Hair Removal
A couple of things that will remove dog hair from carpet / fabric upholstery:
For removing pet hair from upholstery in your house and car an easy method is to use rubber upholstery napping brush or washing-up glove, those with a raised grip work better.
1. Put the glove on and run it under the tap to make it wet then shake off excess moisture. Run your fingers over the pet hair areas in short scraping strokes. You will find that the hair is easily removed and it is especially easy to get into nooks and crannies
2. A synthetic lava rock or a large pore pumice stone (CarPet Pet Hair Remover)
3. Use a lint roller or masking tape wrapped around your hand for the hard to reach places.

I think the best way is to put the dogs in the bed of a truck..... and not in the interior... lol
Good idea on the removal, keep that in mind. I always used the masking tape or duct tape...

Nice work highlighting a great way to get the hair up. Great before and after pics as well! Greg Nichols (not me) from Reflections Detailing in Utah has an article about using a pumice stone to remove dog hair as well. Both are pretty cost effective solutions for what was a long process.

clean dog hairs
I have encountered a similar problem. There is a slight dog urine smell in my car. I am going crazy! ! ! Have you tried a hand vacuum cleaner? ? ? I am thinking about investing in one because it is meant to clean the carpet in the car.

You certainly post a great Thread here. Since many of us carry our animals within the car, this is inevitable. I have a "True" Organizationally Trained Service Dog who has literally been with me 24/7 for the last 7 years. Actually, it was this week in 2012 that I flew home with him, and has since saved my life twice over! This is what I use to remove his Black Hair from the carpets.
Speedy Stone Hair Remover
As stated above, its made from the Pumice Stone principle and though it feels very odd in your hands, it does do its job well before hitting it with my MetroVac Turbo Brush. Another odd thing is that you literally wash this stone under water to remove the hairs on it, and let it dry of course. Definitely small enough to store within a Glove Box too. Additionally, this piece of gear is another outstanding product to have for anyone who wishes to secure their Dog within the back (or possibly front) seat. Once you adjust the harness to fit your dog, you simply run the Seat Belt thru the Strap on the back. It then becomes just like a human seat belt and catches the dog from becoming a projectile within your vehicle. I can attest it really works under HARD braking too!

The best way to remove dog hair from a car involves a multi-step approach for thorough cleaning. Start by using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to loosen and lift the hair from upholstery and carpets. Next, dampen a rubber glove or a rubber pet hair removal tool and run it over the surfaces to collect any remaining hair. For stubborn hair, use a lint roller or sticky tape to pick up the finer strands. Finish by giving the car a final vacuuming to ensure all traces of hair are removed. Regular maintenance with these methods will keep your car interior clean and free of dog hair.
