Default NuFinish

I read both good and bad about NuFinish. But the bad stuff never seems to be substantiated. What's the real deal?

Ok, I'm game. What lasts longer? THAT's what I'm looking for.

You'll have to define which NuFinish product you're referring to for us

IMO, many LSP's will last longer than NuFinish and also look better while doing so. Zaino or Meg's Ultimate Wax for polymer sealants and Collinite 476 or Meg's #16 for waxes will outperform NuFinish. Many of the new nano coatings like Opti-Coat, C-quartz or A-quartz, perform substantially better than NuFinish. These better performing products might cost more but if you are interested in performance they clearly outclass NuFinish, IME.

What is an "LSP"? And which one(s) are the easiest to apply? And can you provide a link? Thank you!

LSP = Last Step Product, typically a wax, sealant or coating.

The easiest to apply products would be Meguiar's Ultimate Wax in either liquid or paste or OptiCoat

Meg's products are available nearly everywhere from WalMart to several of our vendors here. OptiCoat is new and you should check with our vendors or visit their website for more information here:http://www.optimumcarcare.com.au/cat...opti-coat.html

This is a revolutionary coating. It is a permanent coating meaning you only need to apply it once and it lasts indefinitely. I know of one Pro detailer who has had it on his vehicle for over two years. Check the web for reviews and read what users have to say about it. It seems expensive but if it only needs to be applied once it suddenly becomes quite economical.

Thanks JFELBAB. I will check out the products mentioned. That being said, no one addressed the other part of my original question: NuFinish seems to get badmouthed on many car car bulletin boards. Yet I have never seen anyone post any links to any science proving it's bad. Is it bad? Are there studies showing that?

I have NO connection to NuFinish, other than wanting to believe that the cheap, easy to use, once-a-year product does what it says it does. And wanting to know if it truly is bad for car paint, where is the study to show that.

I thought I did when I said "IMO, many LSP's will last longer than NuFinish and also look better while doing so." It is not a bad product and won't damage your paint but there are better performing products, IMO. What exactly are you asking that isn't addressed?

Studies? By what organization or by whom? I've been detailing for years and have presented my opinion as have a few others. Looks like you have an opinion you want to maintain and so let me say that you should use what you like and use it often.

Thank you for the info and sorry I wasn't clear. I have seen unsubstantiated claims that Nufinish will damage paint. I just want to be sure that this is correct...that it will not damage paint.
