Hey guys…

I have a black 98GS that I would like to get some minor body work fixed, but I would prefer to have the whole car repainted. The car is in great condition and I would love to return the paint and body to a like new condition. My problem is that three body shops that I have talked to have quoted between $6,500 and $8,000. These shops mainly do insurance repair work and they are giving me computer generated quotes that they would provide for an insurance claim. I even had one shop claim that it would have to invest $2,000 in materials alone (paint, clear, bondo…ect).

The paint is in a fair to good shape and I want it repainted the same color, base coat clear coat. No door jams, trunk jam, or under the hood need to be repainted.

1) I have another car I can drive so the shop can take their time.
2) How much should I expect to pay to get my car repainted? (base coat, clear coat)
3) Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of shops in central Texas?
