Question How much does a quick detail costs?

For those who don't detail their cars, how mug does it cost to get the job done? I'm in the NYC area. I don't have the time nor experience to do it so im looking to have someone do it.

Btw what does a detail include that a wash and wax doesn't?

Thanks! Sorry for the newb questions!

Don't do it outside, look at what happened to one of the owners in the forum:

You should ask in the North East section
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/neloc-175/

Cost range from 100 (car wash) to 500 bucks (personal mobile detailer).

$15 for a wash up to $100 for a full detail - wash, wax, tire dress, shampoo carpets, etc

Go to autopia.org. It's a Professional car detailing forum. Many professional detailers are in that forum. By "professional" I meant dealing with exotic cars like Ferraris, Lambos, you name it. They will guide you how to achieve a great car detailing (if you decide to do it yourself). If you own a house, I don't see why not do it yourself.

Or you can find a professional detailer from that forum. I forgot his name (something with "Corvette.."). Remember dealing with a PRO means quite expensive ($400 for most basic and above). They don't use OTC stuffs like Turtle Wax. But trust me, these guys are not in the same level with detailers in dealerships or public car wash (who rarely change their clothes). These guys are PROs.

Just to give you an idea:

Detailing has no set definition in the real world. Hence why you see simple wash/wax places using the term. My definition includes claying the car and polishing it to as best as the paint can get before waxing and sealing the paint

always remember this, you get what you pay for. no "full" detail will cost $100 if done correctly (with paint correction). just be careful not to choose a detailer based on price alone.

REAL detailing with paint correction usually STARTS at $250. Thats for a very basic job. Now if you want some hack to do it cheap, or the dealership, that will probably be around $100. But theres a good chance your car will come back with swirls and holograms.

should be a lot of detailing shops around? Over here in TORONTO, there is something called Fine Detail (big company, lots of locations, maybe even in the states). I think they have a cheap 150 package that includes both interior + exterior.

^ What he said.

Detail jobs takes many HOURS... to a day or 2.. if the car is in bad shape.

I just paid $200 he worked on my car for abour 4hrs. I had lots of buffer swirls from a cheap *** wax job so he had to get all those out also clayed, buffed, polished, cleaned the inside and cleaned up the excess old wax from the bad job. THe paint looks good i was disapointed that he couldnt or didnt get out some of the scratches i was wanting to go away.

I still have spyder swirls in the paint he said if i wanted all those gone he would need an entire day and more $$$ of course. He did say though that he managed do either lighten them up alot or removed a bunch of them during the detail so overall i was quite happy with it.

Id say you got what you paid for. $200 and 4 hours is not going to remove swirl marks. Glad you are happy.
