I just bought a used IS that has some paint overspray on in. I tried claying which removed some of the smaller specs but takes forever. WD40 seems to work alot better. I tested a couple spots and wiped away quickly with a damp cloth. It doesnt seem to damage the surface at all. Just wana see what you guys think before I do the rest of the car.

WD-40 has recommended their product for removing bugs, tar, etc off of automotive paint.

Not sure if it's safe, but I've had WD-40 accidentally sprayed on my car and there was no ill-effect.

WD-40 is mainly a water displacer anyways. It's nothing strong like PB-Blaster or Kroil.

100% correct, but I still would make sure that I cleaned the area well with soap and water after you get the bugs off. Then wax the area because the WD - 40 can eat away at the wax if not cleaned up.

I saw a copy of an email at work last week describing the use of WD-40.. There were 40 uses and removing luv bugs was one of them without harming the paint.. I couldn't believe the uses for this stuff..

I love using WD-40! It takes almost all the grimmy stubborn dirt off! For even harder dirt, I use Acetone. But that one you gotta be careful. If you rub really hard, you'll rub the paint right off. Acetone does wonders.

I read that it says it'll help prevent mud and road tar from sticking, anyone try that yet?

I've used carb cleaner on paint...

Got undercoating overspray that caught the wind. Had to spray half the car with the stuff to clean it off!

No ill effect.

Yes. Wd40 may be used to get bugs off of an automobile without harming the paint. But, because WD-40 is based on mineral oil, you must wipe off extra oil to prevent dust from gathering on your car's surface.

Whatever else WD40 is, it’s also a solvent and should be removed by cleaning the surface it is applied to.
