Default Rock Chips Question

Hi,

I've got a lot of rock chips on my hood from driving on the freeway and wonder if there's any harm in not covering the chips with paint? Is there a risk of rust forming? I'm usually parked outside and it rains more than 50% in a year.

thanks,

I guess it depends how deep the chip is. I have/had several on my hood which showed no signs of rust. But there was one on the roof just above my windshield which showed some rusting. I would definitely have that taken care before any rust sets in. Plenty of threads in this section which covers this topic. There are couple DIY's I believe too.
