hey eyezack, that was the only way to sand off down to the metal, I tried 2000, 1500, 1000 no luck. So i went down to 600, and was able to sand down that coating. I have no idea what coating that is.

I used airplane coating remover, etc..still didnt remove whatever that coating is. The coating is slippery.

I'm actually trying to sand it down to the metal, to repolish the lips myself.

When I'm wet sanding it down, it's relasing some kind of a black dust, im not sure what it is.

when you applied the aircraft stripper, how long did you let it sit?

Arod, I let it sit for 30 minutes. I just followed the directions on the side of the can.

Applied with a nylon brush, thick coats. Then sit for 30 minutes. Then I Scrubbed it off with a Wool mesh sponge with water. Nothing Happened.

Aircraft stripper is very strong. It should have at least had some effect on the wheels...

Where are you located? If you're close by I can take a look at them because nothing is adding up for some reason...

Chris, if you're ever near me I can take a look at them, there is one last resort to fix them though, and what kind of wheels are they?

Hey eyezack and Jay, thanks guys for the help.

Ya, I was hoping aircraft stripper would do the trick, some of the green stuff landed on my finger and it started burning haaha, lucky I wore gloves.

Eyezack, ill be in san gabriel area this weekend, if your not too busy to take a look at them. I'm not sure where you live, but ill be in that area picking up some tires. Ill pm you my number and see if we can meet up.

Jay, they are Leon Hardiritt Bugels.

what kind of wheels are those? looks like they were anodized at some point...aircraft stripper tends not to do much to anodized finishes.

That means they're SSR's then....
Chris check to see if your paint stripper is not ethylene based, if it is it won't work..... Or use Jasco, I've heard its strong like hell....

Hey Jay, thanks man, ill try that out, It's really weird, the actually outter lip face is polished, but the the acutal outter lip is like maybe anodized like you said? not sure if that makes sense. It's like the outter lip is 2 pcs or something.

They look just like works. They must be anodized ( as the works are). I polished the lips on my old dh's. You have to start with at least 600 and work up, and it's still alot of work. I actually started with 220. You can do it if you have a lot of time on your hands. If you can afford to have it done professionally it will be a lot nicer probably. It's very hard to get it perfectly clean around the corners. If they are not welded like works, and you can take them apart, it will be much easier. If you were to work your sandpaper up at the point you are now, even after all that work, you'll prolly see some cloudy or hazy spots where you didn't get all the way through the anodized finish. It sucks, I wish I had sent mine off. Good luck with it.

I thought the Bugel's were made by SSR? (as most have SSR stickers on the inside barrel)...
(They're leon's) but the inside faces say SSR...

Why don't you just drop it off somewhere to have them polish it for you? It shouldn't be that expensive. Check out RBMotoring.com

aw, that sucks that it didn't work on your lips. I would've thought the aircraft remover would've done something. I'm sure you can easily find a shop to refinish the wheels, though. you're in socal! haha
