gf bumped my car...need help!

awesome...my gf pulled up behind my car and hit my bumper with her license plate bolts. now i have 2 lovely circular marks with nicked paint in the middle of my 3 month old 09 IS250. can someone please tell me the best method to repair this? i'm thinking of blotting down some touch up paint, sanding it down and then trying to buff up the area. i've never done this before so if anyone can please give me some advice i'd really appreciate it! i was so distraught when this happened.

i have a PC if that helps...

I'm sure some touch up paint wouldn't make it look obvious, unless you reallly look at it.

Try polishing out what you can, and apply touch up, & if you dont like how it looks..

You can have a body shop sand it down and repaint it. Probably 150-300ish for a job like that.

i have never done this, but read this in a post somewhere here on CL. get the touch up pens (paint color and clear if needed), 3M painters tape and sand paper for wet sanding. tape off the area that needs to be treated and blot the area needing the paint. once the paint dries, you want to wet sand the paint until smooth (i dont know much about wet sanding, but do not use anything less than 1500 (start 1500, 2000, 2500). then apply the clear coat (if necessary) and resand - start with 2000 this time. then use a polish to clean up the area. but again, i never tried this, so ask for more questions before you try it.

On a 3-month old car I'd take it to a paint shop that does airbrushing and have it repaired by a pro. Airbrush repairs should not be all that expensive and any DIY repair will only leave you unhappy.

You can polish by hand and see where that gets you. It looks like the paint was scraped a bit...in that case, to get a perfect repair, just have a body shop take care of it. To do a spot blend, you're looking at a few hundred bucks...saves your time and sanity as well. Sorry to hear that though.

My dad did that to my bumper i just got a touch up pen i think from lexus then sanded the scraped part a lil then painted over it. From 5ft back you couldnt tell so that was good enough for me.

thanks guys. i think im going to attempt to fix myself, and if i'm not happy with the results i'll get it professionally fixed. i'm hoping since my car is starfire pearl and the chips are pretty low, that it won't be very conspicuous.
i'm gonna pick up some up 2000,2500, and 3000 sand paper and some compound and see where that gets me. i've never done this before so if anyone can give me some tips on the process, that'd be great!

the boy is on his way to becoming a paint repair specialist! I concur with Moe and jfel, airbrush / spot body repair is probably preferable to entire respray. if you can do it yourself, props to you! Good luck!
