Default Anyone tried Meguiar's M105 & M205 combo?

I'm posting this question here because you guys are familiar with Lexus paint. I have an Onyx Black 06 Is350 and if I'm right, the IS has a single stage paint? Anyone tried the M105 & M205 combo yet? My car has a lot of scratches and major spider webs. I'll be using a PC7424.

Also, I was looking on autogeek dot net and noticed they have a "clay plate". Basically it's a plate that allow you to put the clay in there and clay your car with the PC. I can imagine this would cut claying time down significantly. Has anyone tried it?

Nobody uses single staged paint. It has a clear coat, so its at least two staged. The M105 works wonders even buffing by hand! Clay plate? Never tried it, but then again I am a person who likes to do things by hand.

Careful with the clay plate, you may not notice when the area gets dry. Then thats when the "fun" happens

Jay and I will be getting our Meguiars "twins" shortly. I already have M105 so I'm trading with another detailer for M205. Though it seems that M105 may be too strong for now. Try it with M205 first. Don't forget the least aggressive method first!

Will do Joe! I'll be comparing 205 to Menz Power Finish when they both come in. I'll probably make another collection thread but I keep lagging since I keep buying more stuff

I have them and have only used them once so far. My initial opinion is that they are vastly better than the #83 & #80 that I was using. They are very pad and pressure sensitive and finish up nicely. They do seem to dry faster but work faster as well. I especially like #205 for instant swirl removal. One pass and they were gone. #105 is way stronger than #83 and #205 even seems stronger in cutting power than #83 but it polishes up better and faster than #80. I like what I've seen so far.

Too soon to state for sure but these products may well replace my #83/#80 pair as my go to polishes.

Interested in what others think about these. Of interest is that they work well by rotary, DA or by hand.

I've been using M83, which is a little bit more abrasive than M205. Although it does remove some swirls, most of the swirls are still there. That's why I thought I'll try the new M105 this time.

I'm getting my stuff from autodetailingsolutions, they have great price there.

which pad did you use? I was thinking W8006 for M105 and W9006 for M205. The new 2.0 pads seem nice but then I would have to buy new backing plate .

I've used both the 8006 and 9006 pads with both polishes. I also tried my Lake country pads and find that the polishes (105 & 205) react quite differently based on the pad and pressure used. While 105 can cut fast with a polishing pad it can finish well with a finishing pad and light pressure on light colored paint. I'm not suggesting that 105 will finish up LSP ready on dark colors. Just that it is more versatile than I expected.

Aggressiveness order of some of Meguiar's polishes:

from reading on the Meguiar's site. People have gotten good results with w9006 & M205 for LSP ready. I'm planning to use the NXT 2.0 that I already have or M21 on top of it.
