I tried cleaning and polishing my OEM exhaust tips the other day on my 08 IS350 but found it to be really hard and was unable to get it clean, they've got this kind of dingy like "film" that I just cant clean off. They also have this debris or something that seems to be stuck on to them that I'm assuming melted on?

Do you guys have any tips or suggestions that I could use to get them clean again?

Try some clay bar works wonders on most things.

Did you use metal polish? I used them and it's a breeze

Use Never Dull or a similar cotton wad metal polish. This removes the exhaust soot and discoloration off my stainless tips real well. How hard and time consuming it will be depends somewhat on how long it has been since they were last cleaned/polished.

I've had very good luck using English Custom Metal Polish/Restorer on oxidized metals. The new optimum metal polish is also proving to be a very solid performer for these types of tasks!

I tried using wheel polish... figured it might do the job but it didn't.

I used a old cotton wad type metal polish too and it cleaned the tough caked on stuff stuff very well with a little work, some stuff I had to chip off with hard edged object.

Good infor for shining up them tips. Anybody replaced them with a slightly more aggressive set of tips (IS350/250 without replacing exhaust system)?

I use mothers metal polish it comes out great

Clean them with 0000 steel wool and WD- 40. Then polish with a metal polish.

+1000 on the steel wool. This gets the baked on stuff off, then with a little metal polish they come out perfect. I've used this method for a few years with excellent results.
