Default So...my car still isn't completely finished...guess why...

The freakin backing plate imploded on itself or something

I swear...its taking me more than a month to finish the other half of my car (old thread: So I broke out the PC for the first time today...)...

Funny thing is that last time I finished half of my trunk. This time I finished the hood and started on my passenger side of my ES. It blows right after I finish the 1st door . Thankfully I noticed how different it sounded and how it moved a split second before it blew. Or else I'll have a nice nut sized circle on my back door. I literally lifted slightly then BOOM...it flies off, nearly hits my friend, then tries to hit the RX on the drive way but is stopped by the garage door...one evil backing plate if you ask me...

So yeah...this is a rant with pics...of how a backing plate decided to leave me with no way to polish the scratches out of my car

Greg sent it out this morning for me. He told me it was a design flaw that LC had. He told me that they sent new ones to them before Jan 24 and said that usually all the ones prior to the 24 were destroyed. I ordered on the 28th so iono, that threw me off a little. Hopefully this one is better

Anyway, I think I'll send LC an email and see if I can score another backing plate out of it...I think it melted due to being on speed 6 for about 4 hours even though I took 15 min breaks

Check to make sure your plate is good, you don't want it to do a number on your paint

There are better designed backing plates from LC. I'm going with 43-160WH 6-1/4” (160 mm) for my 6-1/2" x 1-1/4" CCS pads. This one is reinforced with steel struts.

HOLY CRAP . Thats one design change. I wonder why it didn't ship out for me...hopefully the replacement looks like that but wow...looks good for a backing plate

I've never had a backing plate fly off before, but my old sonus pads flew off during the middle of a detail. The velcro just separated from the foam and disappeared.

so I emailed LC and they told me that I did indeed get the old backing plate with the defects. So for my trouble they are also sending me a replacement. Good company I have to say =]

The redesigned plate. They didn't give me a picture of it sadly but she did describe it to me.

"You did in fact have an older version. The newer version is identical in design, but the yellow plastic on the new ones is a much darker yellow and not shiny."
^^I wonder which one that is =/

I'm hoping that I get 2 models. The one you showed and the redesigned (unless they are the same). If not, then I'll just pick up one of yours. Seems to be pretty sturdy

THE REPLACEMENT CAME IN!!!!!!

But...it looks exactly the same as the one I got . I guess I have to wait for the one from Lake Country to come in before emailing Greg from DI again...
