Default Drying after a heavy rain, is it a good idea?

I was just curious if it's a good idea to dry the car after a heavy rain. It was raining hard last night and this morning is pretty sunny. I would wash the car but the report says it might rain again tonight or tomorrow so washing would be a waste of time so I want to dry it before any water spots settles. However, I don't want to dry because I might cause more swirl marks and scratches by drying a black car.

So which options should I do?

I would lightly dry the top sections (hood/roof and upper side panels) if you can't see any dirt/dust on it with some quick detailer. The QD has some lubricants to help prevent scratching, but I'd say away from the bottom panels since they usually never are clean even after a heavy rain and could scratch your car.

I wouldn't bother. Just give her a nice wash the next day that won't be getting any rain.

I'd spray it down with Poorboys Spray & Wipe.

wash your car. There will be dirt on your car after the rain.

I would definately wash the car instead of just drying it off. If the car was driven in the rain, there will be a certain amount of road grime on it. Drying the car without removing the grime first could damage the paint.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll just drive around in a dirty car for a while til I'm sure there is no rain coming then wash it.

So I shouldn't worry about water spots setting in? That's one of my main concerns.

I wouldnt dry it off after a rain. As others have mentioned there will be dirt on the car and will be perfect for making fine scratches. Its rained here since friday and I havent washed the car in over a week and its killing me
