Default Brown Stain Under Clearcoat of New Car?

Hi All,

After washing my car, I noticed a small light brown stain on the roof of my new car.

I tried to polish out the stain with the mild Klasse AIO and then moved to Optimum Polish by hand. After the polish, I realized that this stain was UNDER the clearcoat. The finish is shiny and smooth except for the stain under the clearcoat. Any ideas on what has caused this?

I thought someone mentioned that sometimes new vehicles have water trapped under the clear but I couldn't find it using the search tool.

Thanks!

You might want to try a paint cleaner instead of a polish. A polish deepens/richens paint gloss, but it's not designed to remove paint stains.

My problem is resolved. I used a hair dryer to dry the water trapped beneath the clear coat. I read that this typically happens when plastic is used to cover the car during shipment.

Thanks to all who replied.

BTW, Klasse AIO is a paint cleaner with no abbrassives, and Optimum Polish is a polish with abbrassives. Klasse is milder/gentler than Optimum.

I recently read a TSB on this exact topic... know you have it resolved but FYI for future folks reading this thread

Good find Dave, interesting stuff, and a helpful DIY.

This is similar to what happened when one covered a car with a plastic/vinyl car cover (the real cheapo kind) years ago. It would cause this and eventually ruin the paint if left on too long.

Same for a front end bra, the sun and rain/moisture trapped under one for extended periods are a bad combination.

Thanks for the PDF.
