Default Rubber molding issue

Guitarman, on my bmw, I noticed that the molding around the frame seems to show wear. I had it replaced by bmw once already, but I am now seeing the same thing show up. Is there a product out there that keeps the molding from drying up and cracking at such a premature stage? tIA

Usually, when they degrade like that from UV or mildew, wear etc. the only permanemt remedy is to refinsih them with special elastomeric paint, dealerships do this to trade ins and such, but if you want to use a dressing for temporary relief , there are a good amount of choices.

Mothers Back to Black, Poorboy's Trim Restorer , Forever Black ( a permanant dye-can streak on some types of trim though ) Meguiar's #38, and an enthusuast's favorite- Chemical Guys extended life new look trim gel.

Most of those, except for the Meguiar's #38 and Forever Black & Mother's won't be redily available in stores, you'll have to order online.

A know some others here will also give you their personal preference. I've used the Mother's, the Forever Black, and Meguiar's, and while the Forever Black is the most permanent, it's fussy. Given that, I'd choose the Meguiar's myself. Holds up decently. Good luck.
