what is the best way to clean nasty dired on sprinkler water from your windows.it looks clean when your looking stright but when you look from the side a you nasty spots with like a blueish tint to them.i just got my windows tinted 5% and it really stands out.i tried stoner and fif not help.

Get your hands on a clay bar, which should help remove the residual water spots and stains on your windows (you can also use the clay bar on your hood, fender panels, sides, trunk, etc.)

Try some wadded up old newspapers. If the bluish residue is heavy, it's best to use a glass cleaner with the newspaper. It sounds odd but it's an old trick that cleans windows really well...and streak free.

If Flipside909's newspaper trick doesn't work then I'd go with lexusk8's clay bar suggestion. If they're water spots on the surface, because of the minerals in the water, then the clay bar will remove them.

you could try dishwashing soap. If you do that might as well use dawn and rewax your car afterwards too.

I used some steel wool + water spot remover (its a heavy acid based solvent) put the stuff on there and get it off Quick (it does not hurt paint but can stain). Let me find out what the liquid and company is called. It gets EVERYTHING out.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy some CLR. It will remove mineral spotting. If the spotting has etched the glass however, then you're going to need an abrasive to expunge it, if it can be that is.


I've seen sprinkler water left too long, etch to the point the glass must be replaced. Good luck, don't delay too long!

I've had good success with Glass Scrub from Glass Science. I purchased it from CMA, but I have also since found it locally. It's a chemical cleaner without abrasives. It cleaned the water spots from my glass that vingar (with the paper towel soak and plastic wrap covering) did absolutely nothing for.

I have also tried Autoglym Glass Polish on another family car with water spots from not drying the car properly and those were at least a year old. It took a good bit of elbow grease, but after three passes, the water spots were gone. The trick was to use a plush cotton terry towel. I have since purchased a PC, so should make that process much easier next time.

FWIW, CLR was also recommended for my situation, but the Glass Scrub worked before I had to try that or the steel wool #0000 method. Luckily the chemical cleaner route worked fine.

Company is called CR Lawrence. They have water spot remover. It works good, one pass to get it done and one to buff the stuff off.
