Question Washing your car with rims!? Carwash?!

This question has been bugging me forever, so I am finally going to ask it.... I have a 2002 gs on 20's and for the past 2 months since ive had my rims on (winter ended) I wash my car by hand...... I do a good job and all but it comes down to some days where you don't feel like going outside and scrubbing your whole car down.... Ive heard rumors that people have had thier rims ruined by a track car wash (where your tire follows on a track).... Is that a myth???
For that reason, I either don't wash my car at all... Or have to travel 30 minutes to get my car washed at some trackless car wash......
Is getting your car washed with tracks really bad for your rims??? Or is that a myth??

car washes with the tracks WILL mess up your wheels.. when I had 20's on my other car, I went into the wash and came out with the entire lip all scratched up! don't do it!!! lol it's a huge risk..

Never wash your beautiful car at the car wash. You will get small scatches on your exterior. You even have to watch some of those hand wash places. Ask them if they use an acid based rim cleaner. It can wreak your clearcoated rims.

Do you work at a corporate/office building? If so, I'd recommend getting a mobile car wash/detailer to come on your work on a regular basis. They usually are willing to do it because of all the business they can get from other people at the same time.

For me, it's the best $20 spent each week. :-)
