Road Trip: How to avoid rock chips??
I am planning on driving from S. California to N. California and I dont want a lot of rock chips on my JIC bumper. Can I use painter's tape (blue stuff) and tape in all up? Anyone have a suggestion?

That's 3M safe-release painter's tape, and will pull off easily without taking the car paint with it, even if the front end was repainted at some time. In fact, it's not that sticky to begin with so you may even have a problem getting it to stay on around the edges if you have a lot of wax /sealant on the car. i know that's usually the case for me on one of my cars, but it usually stays on well enough for a road trip.
Cheers.

If you don't want to cover it with some kind of clear protective film or tape it up with blue painters tape my best advice is to not tailgate and keep a decent distance from traffic especially big rigs as best you can.

I have rockchips all over the front of my car already.....in the traffic here there is no avaoiding it. I am driving 3 days to Texas in September and I plan on taping mine up too. I feel like an idiot for doing it to an already horribly chipped up car but at the same time I want to prevent more.

man i dont get this taping up thing...its like couches with plastic over them. Dont you want to see your beuitufl car, or have others see your nice car while driving?
Clear bra FTMFW! great protection and you dont look silly. And you dont have to peel it everytime you want the car to look good.
