I've had good success with Meguiar's PlastX on both headlight lenses and tail lights. It restored the lenses to like-new condition and they were crystal clear. I'm sure there are other products that work equally as well but PlastX is easy to find and easy to use. It just works.

The product just works. I used it on my headlights and I have a 98 with 70k miles on it. It worked really well restoring the headlights back to almost new condidtion. It wont take out the large rock hits that the covers had on there, but if your lights are in good condition it basically cleans up all the grime and dirt. It is crystal clear now.

I would get it.

lol.

One point to remember... the yellowing and scratching you are taking off WILL COME BACK. So this stuff isn't a one-time-use item. Its a maintenance product.

It's cool. I was really wondering if it causes yellowing or scratching in the long run. MY es headlights are yellow and foggy just like Mike's were. My GS just has a dirty haze in spots. For the longest time I thought it was inside, but now I think most of it is outside.

I ordered Plastix from Meguiars today, went to 2 parts stores and neither had it

I looked for PlasticX at PepBoys but didn't find it, so I tried Mother's Plastic Polish on my 2 month old GX. My god...it made the glass (I guess, plastic, really) feel incredibly smooth...it felt sensual to rub my palm over them. Definitely made a difference.

I have used the three Meguiar's Mirror Glaze products. No. 18 Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Detailer / No. 17 Meguirar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner / No.10 Meguiar''s Clear Plastic Polish. These can all be found at Meguiar's website or ordered through a auto parts store that caters to body shops. 3M brand also makes the same kind of plastic detailers, cleaners and polisher. All have worked well on the headlights and it is regular maintenance. Works well on motorcycle and snowmobile helmets too.

I obtained a bottle over the weekend and tried it last night. After a few minutes of buffing, my headlights were shiny and slick. The major scratches are still there but all the light stuff was gone. The plastic appears glossy and 'clearer' than before. Very happy with the result.

I have never used plast-x but scratch-x does do a good job getting the headlight lens' clean.

Yes, they contain "diminishing abrasives" which are a particle size that starts out one size and break down immediately to, in effect, self polish. 2 steps in one. The particle size they start with is also no where near as large as a rubbing compound, which is very aggressive and will dull clear plastic to varying degrees-something that you DON'T really want in a plastic polish.

I use Rubbing compound on dull headlight lens' but I always polish them out with a finer abrasive to restore the ultimate clarity. Cheers.
