Thanks for the info. Ironically, NJ law doesn't permit any tinting. Does that mean that the RX 330 from the factory is really in violation of the law?

70% = no point, unless you're going for the LLumar UV shield which blocks out 99.9% of UV rays. I got that 15% all around excluding my front windshield...its totally not worth not getting front windshield done, when my car is back out of the shop, I will go tint my front windshield the least I can get it with UV, it keep your car THAT much cooler.

I tinted the windows of my other car, a 350Z. I wanted max performance for minimum change in appearance on the sides. You have a couple choices, Huper Optik Ceramic and V-KOOL. V-KOOL 70 has 73% visible light transmission, 94% infra-red rejection and 99% ultra-violet rejection. Huper Optik Ceramic 40 has 42% visible light transmission, 80% infra-red rejection and 99% ultra-violet rejection.

At 73% transmission, V-KOOL probably still violates some laws, since the total impact includes the glass. Even “clear” safety glass has some impact. Anyway, I got V-KOOL and love it. They other day it was hot and I was driving with the window down. My arm was feeling hot in the sun. I put up the window and it was dramatically cooler.

Oh man! 50% is illegal, even though it doesn't look that dark, and still visible to the CHP.
