Rubbing Compound on Clearcoated Lips?
Should I do it?
I got a scratch on my clear coated lip from the alignment guy a few months back. Can I 2000 grit wet-sand it.....then use 3M rubbing compound (by hand) to remove the scratch? Will it work?
From what it looks like....the scratch did NOT reach the steel lip....only on the clear coat finish.

There's really no way we could give you a definite answer from here Pete. It will depend on how deep it is and how much clear is still underneath it.
If you've wetsanded before and know when to say "when", then go for it. You can always scuff it and shoot some new clear over it I guess, although it would be better and easier to just to sand it out .
It sounds do-able, I hope you can get it. Let us know how it goes.
P.S. That paint will be thin since it's on a rolled lip and was gravity affected when it cured. Not quite the same as wetsanding a flat panel. Use your hand this time, not a block, and use very light pressure guiding the paper.
