stained chrome...
my brother has a set of chrome rims that he put away for the winter and just recently took them back out since the weather is much nicer. anyway, i guess from just sitting in out garage, the rims became stained. he tried cleaning them w/soap and water and got absolutely NO results. so, what can get these stains out?? im not sure what kind of stains they are, but anyone have any suggestions?? thanks.

I don't have any options to move the thread when it's in here, but as I PM'ed you, try a chrome or all metal polish ( Mother's , NevR Dull etc.) as that should have some effect on cleaning them up. Try that and let us know.

high powered steamer
I cleaned my wheels with one of those "high powered steamers" that they sell on late nite infomercials (I know I know I buy too much infomercial crap, but hey, I sent back the damn box of medieval swords didn't I??) I think I paid like $30 for the thing and it cleans chrome and glass like crazy!!! If you can get one that may help, or take some hot water and ammonia and see if that breaks up those stains. It would help if you knew what the hell you were dealing with (grease? dirt? soot? what?).

Just over a year old, and i am experiencing this problem. Brake pad dust has stained my front rims. I can see slight metal deposits on there that just won't clean! Any update on whether any of this worked Mo? You saw how dirty the rims were, help me out brotha!

Hey, I used a metal cleaner/polisher on my rims. They are not CHROME, but the polisher does say CHROME SAFE. It's a cleaner called Bar Keeper's Friend. It worked wonders for my rims, check out the results.
