newbie lex owner / water spots

One other thing you may want to do in regard to the bird droppings is to use some isopropyl alcohol & water mix instead of just a quick detailer. The quick detail spray won't remove / flush out all the acids from the dropping, and you can sometimes wind up with etched paint the day AFTER you've cleaned the spot with the QD (don't ask me how I know this. ) Also, make sure you never remove a bird dropping without softening it with some water or the alcohol or QD, as a dry dropping when wiped can scratch the paint.
The alcohol acts as a drying agent on the acids. You could also use some baking soda & water mix -it would ostensibly neutralize the acids in the bird doo.
Not all bird droppings are created equal, it depends on their diet just how damaging they can be. But it's known that a seagull dropping can sometimes etch clearcoat in 45 minutes. Ouch!
A polymer sealant or wax buys a little time, but it's no panacea. Cheers.
