Advertisors pay by the number of issues of the mag that gets sold/distributed. If the manufacturer isn't selling enough, they will give them away to meet a quota so they can overcharge the advertisors. So the annoying advertisements are paying for your subscription. Plus, like 1sicklex stated, they probably sell your info to marketing people for even more cash. This subscription isn't free, its just that someone else is payiong for it, so its free to you!
