Just curious how these companies make any money doing this, do they resell your information?

The more mags in circulation, the more they can charge their advertisers.

I think these giveaways are some kind of advertisers wet dream.

There's NO WAY a magazine distributor would give away yearly subscriptions of their magazines to hundres or thousands of people. These internet links go around very fast whenever the word 'free' is mentioned.

I took up one of these offers before (on a PC mag) and somehow I received another magazine that I did not subscribe for. They are using your information to sell, I'd bet on it.

I think they sell our e-mail addresses and home addresses, then everyone starts getting junk mail. It's OK, I have no problem deleting junk mail. I get tons of 'em anyway. That's why they get the hotmail address.
