Omg!! This Pisses Me Off!
I HATE "some" LIBERALS!!!!!
Web Site Kicks Sand in Faces of GIs in Iraq Asking for Mats to Ease Hardship of Sleeping on Ground
An American GI assigned to one of the harshest posts in Iraq had a simple request last week for a Wisconsin mattress company: send some floor mats to help ease the hardship of sleeping on the cold, bug-infested ground.
What he got, instead, was a swift kick from the company's Web site, which not only refused the request but added insult to injury with the admonition, "If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."
Army Sgt. Jason Hess, stationed in Taji, Iraq, with the 1st Cavalry Division, said he emailed his request to Discount-mats.com because he and his fellow soldiers sleep on the cold ground, which contains sand mites, sand flies and other disease carriers.
In his email, dated Jan. 16, 2007, he asked the Web-based company, registered to Faisal Khetani, an American Muslim of Pakistani descent:
"Do you ship to APO (military) addresses? I'm in the 1st Cavalry Division stationed in Iraq and we are trying to order some mats but we are looking for ships to APO first."
On the same day, Hess received this reply:
Quote:
"SGT Hess,
We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.

Discount-Mats.com"
|
Khetani on Monday told FOX News that the person responsible for the email reply had been fired. The Web site, meanwhile, has been temporarily taken down.
Hess emailed that he has since found two mat suppliers willing to ship to an APO address in Iraq.

Well, glad to see the owner took action.
I had a cousin stationed over there and I remember my parents shipping her videos, a DVD player, plus plenty of Swedish pillows (tempurpedics I think they call them), but luckily they had mats.

I don't believe that the person was fired. I think that Faisal Khetani wrote that e-mail and didn't expect the whiplash it would create.

I guess I'm having trouble reading then because the same way I didn't find anywhere saying Khetani is a liberal I'm also missing where anyone's been told "to go to hell."
But, as I understand it, some liberals and conservatives alike can (and do) support the troops as well as they can (and do) oppose the President's policies relative to the war and his execution of the war.

Update:
GIs in Iraq Get Their Mats After Enduring Insult From Web-Based Company
"I was appalled at the response," Sgt. Jason Hess told FOX News in an email received Tuesday afternoon from Iraq a day after his story was told. "A simple response would have been, I'm sorry but we do not ship overseas."
Hess, part of the 1st Cavalry Divison, is stationed in Taji, a former Republican Guard stronghold, and one of the toughest outposts in Iraq.
Discount-Mats.com is run out of Khetani's home in West Allis, Wis. In a telephone interview Tuesday with FOX News, Khetani said he had fired the employee who sent the email, a claim that FOX News has not been able to confirm. He also said he has received thousands of phone calls to his home and business from people protesting the email exchange.
Meanwhile, FOX News has received thousands of emails asking how to donate mats and other items to U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
Rob Timmons, an Iraq veteran and a veteran outreach coordinator, recommended the following Web sites:

the man was running a middle-man business out of the confinement of his own home. He has no employees..and if he did, it would be a close friend or family member of his. I highly doubt, however, that anybody other than the owner pulled that card out of his ass to write that sickening e-mail to these fine troops. He didnt expect the ripple effect to take place as large and as fast as it did...so of course, to save his own ass, releases a quick scape-goat response.
pretty sad if you ask me...i pray that his business takes a hit for his actions.

Fact is, the soldier asked if Khetani's company shipped to APO addresses and he was told "no." Then, (likely Khetani) went on to express his views about Iraq. He was within his rights to do so. It clearly wasn't patriotic and was in bad taste depending on your views but I didn't see the same disrespect or disdain that you seem to see. To me, far worse could be and has been said than, "If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."
Chaulk it up to different viewpoints...

Hey I personally don't have an issue with Obama going to the Muslim school at that young of an age. I can just see how a lot of people would have a problem with it.
As far as his comments I guess we just read it a bit different.

Fired? That's the least he can do.
Even if that company emplyee was just expressing his own opinions, what does he expect that soldier and his comrades to do? Military service is not an after-school job at McDonald's or pumping gas; they cannot disobey orders and just walk right out of the place...that would be desertion, a serious military crime.
IMO, the company's owner...after he cans that a** hole, owes that soldier, and that soldier's entire military unit, an apology on the company's part....and what else?..........
...........You guessed it. A shipment of that company's FINEST mattresses, at company expense.

I think that the "a** hole" is the owner himself.

Good thing the soldier had sense enough to seek another supplier rather than wait on this pipe dream...

He fired himself? Not likely. The article said that the offending person had been laid off.
