Default neocaraudio iPod integration

My dealer here in Texas has a brochure for http://www.neocaraudio.com/.

They have a new iPod integration system for Lexus, and from what I have read, there is more functionality with this system than the varis system, has anyone heard of neo car audio?

The dealer wants $600 for the install. The system itself is $299. I think I can do this myself.

I have 2006 GS 430 w/ DVD nav and ML audio.

Any comments are concerns would be greatly appreciated.

From what i can see from their site, functionality seems virtually identical to the Vaistech SoundlinQ.

Yup. Looks identical. Can't see anything over and above what the VAIS item offers.

The question is... will this cause any problem with BT. There are reports here about BT not working after VAIS unit installed.

I think the BT issue is on the SLS unit only, i have no issues at all with SLI, only difference i noted was that maybe you can use older ipods with this unit, but thats is it I think. I wish there was a way to get folder / file structure on the 06 gs...

Pretty sure the DiCE one can do that: http://www.diceelectronics.com/ipod_integration.htm

I'd try it but they won't ship one to the UK no matter how much I'm willing to pay.

I'm sorry, but what leads you to believe this provides any more functionality than the VaisTech or NeoCarAudio solution?

From the dice site, under product features

Quote:
Browse music by song, playlist, album and chapter
Also, read the instruction manual here: http://www.diceelectronics.com/suppo...al_rev_C01.pdf

Talks about the next/previous track buttons scolling through albums/artists

Better be careful of what you're reading. Both of the other units can do that too. But the catch is that it's an alternative means of operations. On the SoundLinq it's called "Simple Mode". In this mode you can indeed browse by album, artist, etc., but it's by using the physical iPod controls and display. The track up/down keys on the audio system/steering wheel serve as the left/right iPod keys but other navigation thru the iPod menus occurs on the iPod itself. Also, only the iPod displays the information. Nothing comes to the audio or nav display (except song title information when a song is played).

Wouldn't be at all surprised, if the Dice unit operates the same way.

Read the manual I posted. It talks about how the steering wheel buttons operate to do different things in the different modes such as skip chapters, playlists, albums etc.

I have the VAIStech SLI unit in my car at the moment by the way.

I ordered the iPod adapter from neo car audio earlier in the week, it arrived today. To my surprise it the vaistech unit. From there website I made the ass-umption it was a different product, guess they are just a reseller.
