Not bad advice at all. Something else that will work but looks funny is putting the tip of the remote up to your chin and using your head as an antenna. It works all the time for me! IDK how much distance it will add, maybe it depends an how big your head is, lol.

I knew that in 9th grade.
Works best if you aim it into the temple and let the beam shoot out your eyes.
