I would have kept him. His team sucks and poor acquistions and he has wide receivers who cannot catch a #()$()# cold.
Its just tough to coach a team led by a non traditional QB.

unfortunately for him, the majority of teams have a "win now or else" attitude. i think he and the falcons overachieved his first year when they went to the nfc championship, and haven't fared to well the last 2 years.
if you saw the brief press conference today, on nfl network, jim mora did bring up some interesting stats: best win percentage of any falcons coach, 4th most wins by an nfc team over his tenure, number 1 in rushing every year, etc. etc.
as you stated, the receivers are absolute garbage, which absolutely changes the game for the falcons. if they could have one offensive receiving threat outside of crumpler, they'd be dangerous and have a legitimate shot at making some noise.
it'll be interesting to see who they get as coach, and if they'll keep alex gibbs and the zone blocking scheme.

So does this mean Vick IS a coach killer?  Sorry, I couldnt resist... I think Mora kinda dug his own grave with those strange jokes/comments he made a couple of weeks ago. It's hard to say where the blame falls in Atlanta, but when that's the case, either the coach or the QB usually takes the fall. I think Alabama may have found their next coach...
