Default Supply and Demand for GS350?

I am wondering what people think about this for this car. Although there is some buzz on here about it, elsewhere it is really a stealth launch. Little adverstising, no write ups in car magazines, etc.

The Edmunds GS300+ board has only had <10 posts in the last week, despite the car becoming available for test driving this week.

I know there may be some pent up demand from people that waited to buy the 350 (rather than the 300), but I would not be shocked to see the prices coming down off of sticker relatively quickly.

Any thoughts from the Lexus cognescenti on here?

I would imagine the relatively low profile on the release is that they don't want to take attention away from the ES350 sales either, which are pretty healthy right now. I know that the GS is a full $10K more, comparably equipment, but it would still steal some thunder from the ES. I'm sure the same won't be when the LS is officially introduced.

As for pricing, there will definitely be people out there who were waiting for the 3.5 to be released rather than purchase the 3.0. With some posters on this site that have test drove the vehicle, they have noted not much increase in performance, so it actually might be a good time to get a year end GS300 at a very good price if you don't need the extra HP.

I would imagine by end of year or early next year the 2007 GS will sell for close to invoice but for now, since it's 'brand new' you would have to pay MSRP or close to it.

Maybe Lexus doesn't want to upset current '06 GS owners

In all seriousness, the GS350 launch reminds me of the MB E350 launch. Just an evolutionary change. There wasn't much fanfare when the E changed from the E320 to the E350. Although more HP and a gen 5 nav are exciting for enthusiasts here on CL, they probably aren't items of much interest to the general public.
