Imo, For me black interiors are the richest looking and show the least amount of dirt, as far as heat,as long as your window tint is good, it's not a factor. good luck, yogregb
I live in the Phoenix area. Using a sunshade for the front window and having tint on the rest has made the interior very comfortable. I have not found the black to really be any hotter than another color..
and it does look so much nicer. No multi colored dash.....

umm... you willing to swap your blackwood for my brown??? I have blk interior and love the black wood!!!
and to address the issue, I don't mind the black at all.. I put up the auto sun shade in the rear when i park and i put the Mac Ceramic tint so the seats are never hot to touch...

speaking of swapping wood...is that even possible? I have passed up about 10 GS 300's becuase they are grey leather and I am set on not having the black wood trim in the car I buy.
That would be great if you could actually replace the black wood...
Wood swap is definitely possible . I swapped all my red wood with the black wood so I have all black interior now. I recommend if you want to do the swap to trade with someone willing to do it or I will be selling all my cherry wood (includes steering wheel, shifter, center console and each door piece(x4) ) all in excellent condition and out ready to go. Priced out through Lexus is funny its like close to $9,000 dollars to do.
Steering wheel: ~$2000
Center console: ~$1500
Shift Knob: ~$300
Door Piece: ~$1400 each
Will probably sell all pieces for $1500 and a left rear door black wood piece.
Steering wheel is one piece have to swap the entire thing (I unplugged the battery for 10 minutes just to be safe, then pop off to plastic pieces under the backside of the steering column and access to large torx screw that hold the air bag in, once you remove those the airbag will come loose and unplug it. you can use a steering wheel tool or just pull super hard and the wheel will come off, I pulled mine off by hand). Center console pops right out easily in like 2 seconds, shifter just unscrews, the doors take a while cuz theres like 40screws holding each piece of wood on from the inside, easy to do just tedious.
regarding the steering wheel and wood color choices...
Are you saying you would have to swap the whole steering wheel and not just the wood?
Dont the steering wheels match the leather color you choose?
Meaning if I have a grey interior but want the brown woodgrain from a black car, how do I get the brown on the grey leather steering wheel?

the grey interior has a black steering wheel and dash also. i am not sure about the cashmere interior though. keep in mind that the brown walnut is with the cashmere; black interior gets a red cherry type wood.
My question is, besides the heat, what are the cons of owning a car with black leather interior
My last GS had the gray interior. I much prefer the black interior on my current GS. The drivers seat shows less "wear", but I do have to work a little harder to remove all the dust.
My dream combo would still be black leather and black wood...come on Lexus
