Default Frys electronics - Canon ink BE CAREFUL!

Guys and gals,

Just got a big assignment from one of the shoots. They ordered MOOCH amounts of prints, so I'm running them through the Canon i9900 wide format printer. Upon opening one of the inks, photo magenta, I noticed that a previous consumer had returned this as "new". Here are the things to watch out for...

Bottom edge along box. If there are ANY, and I do mean ANY tears, REJECT IT, no matter how minor they seem. Previous scammer opened this up carefully and reglued the box.

Plastic shrink wrap around cartride...there was none. Another bad sign.

The orange "breakaway" tab that keeps the ink from leaking...this was GLUED back into place.

I'd suspect he or she ran about 10 8x10's through it. But, alas, I'm on a deadline so I have to use the rest of it.

BE CAREFUL!!!

This cartridge was purchased from the Frys Electronics in Downers Grove, Illinois.

The workers at this location seem to have a very low IQ and don't seem to care about customer service. Before going there, do your homework. Most of them walk around like zombies.

most of the Fry's electronics stuf...

especially motherboards and other "core" computer parts are returned items...but are labeled so.

i'm surprised that one got labeled new.

i personally don't like shopping at fry's because i have to dig through so much "returned" items just to find an unopened item.

When the opportunity allows it, I always open the box first prior to paying for it to ensure it is new. Frys was taken to court for labeling returns as new and have been pretty decent about marking the boxes recently but still far from perfect. I still shop there for some items but most of the hi end stuff I pick up come from other sources.

I have to be careful buying stuff at Fry's, most the times they do have that bright pink or green/yellow sticker on them indicating a return. I like manufacturer tamper proof seals.

i dont understand why the returns department isn't more careful with their returned items. They make commission on the items that they reject for return or exchange. they call it "saving the item". The more saves they get per day, the more money they make for the week.

LOL

This is completely normal for Fry's...I try to NEVER go there...but if I have to buy something I try my best to get something that, God forbid, I will not have to return. That means opening it up and making sure it looks good prior to purchase. Amazing how thos eplaces are like zoo's filled with people who actually think they are getting a deal by saving $2 while they spent $30 in gas to get to the Fry's

The people they hire are straight from far away African and Asian continents and have no idea what electronics are...not to mention what customer service is...they may be able to give you tips on hunting water buffalo through.
