Default Installe Joe Z Intake...pics inside

I got my Joe Z intake today! Joe mad props on the fast shipping, thanks so much!!!! :approve:

Joe did a favor for me...he made a gunmetal one off for me with the black fittings.
The intake tube is very well made, the finish is excellent.

Installation is pretty straight forward, took me about 20 mins tops to do.

Btw, the instructions that come with the tube are fool proof!

Gunmetal intake

Compared to stock

Throtle body black coupler. Nice and stealth

Airbox coupler

Loosely fit.

Installed complete

The sound is sweet, nice and deep growl! You can only tell you have the intake at high RPM's, past 5K, before that, it sounds just like the stock one.

In the short time I have had it on...hours....I can tell a difference in the throttle response, much sharper. As far as power, feels as it pulls a bit harder....but the computer is still learning. I suspect as time goes along, I should feel a bigger difference.

I'll post more impressions later on.

EDIT:
I have gotten to drive the car a bit more now, definitely, the throttle response is much improved at any throtle position, the car just takes off!
At WOT, the car just rockets off....and the sound after 5K is music to my ears....I do not think I have ever had the stereo off for this long since I got the car!
Powerwise, hard to really feel a difference...4-6HP difference is really hard to tell anyhow.

Overall, if you want a bit of more ooomf, plus a lot better throttle response...and keep your car looking and sounding stock (except when you want it not to sound stock, at high revs), this is the way to go.
I suspect I will get better gains as well I change the filter to a lesser restrictive filter, such as a K&N or TRD.

Congrats, Glad it got there in time. Looks so good, I'm jealous.

So, that's where my gunmetal Joe Z Intake went.

The LMS intake is sucking hot air from its sorroundings. Some guys that have installed the LMS actually lost power. They only got back to the baseline HP with fans blowing air in the front of the vehicle.
I like the fact that I kept the factory airbox sucking cold air.
I am using the stock air filter for now...as soon as a drop in K&N is available, I will switch it.

might make some small gains the plastic intake isnt exactly smooth inside, there are ribs that might cause turbulence for the intake charge and hurt flow rates. Combine this with a K&N drop in and it will be the closest thing you can get to a cold air for now.

that looks real good. I especially like how it integrates well with the engine bay. But damn the engine looks gross without the cover... wires everywhere...

wow. that motor does look messy without the cover. it's like they gave up on making it clean and said F it, the cover will hide it.

that tube looks better, but I can't see how it would actually do anything. I dont know what the inside of the plastic tube looks like, but it almost looks fatter than the aftermarket.

All this is is a replacement tube connecting the airbox to the manifold.

While there's a SLIM possibility that it would make more power (and that increase is going to be so small as to fall within a margin of error for the dyno that I don't think it's even relevant), I really doubt it's going to do anything as far as sound goes either. Until someone goes and buys a decibel meter at radio shack and takes some before and after readings on the same stretch of road, I just don't buy it. Intake charge noise is almost all generated by the airflow through the filter. With all the stock plumbing in place, there's not going to be a change in volume, though perhaps in tone.
