******SPOILERS******
You have been warned!
Those were some great fights.
Monson vs. Cruz was more filler but was a decent fight. With Cruz coming off a win over Frank Mir, he should have been the favorite but Monson is such an animal, you can't count him out. Monson was too short to try and stand up with Cruz, even though he had superior striking. Monson's real strength was in the GnP which was the only thing that got him the decision.
It was great to see Tanner back in top form. Awesome submission finish by jumping the triangle choke. He looked so smooth and confident, we may be seeing Tanner back in contention for the belt if he keeps this up.
Tito won that fight but only barely which doesn't say much for Tito. Griffin is still pretty green and he gave Tito as good as he got, especially on the feet. Tito's brutal GnP in the first round was awesome and the punishment he delivered was pretty signifigant. Any lesser of a fighter than Griffin would have been TKO'd or just KTFO. The 2nd round was all about Griffin and his iron chin and decent, albeit wild, striking. Tito's third round take down defintately was the deciding factor since the third was fairly even until then.

to Tito for giving props to Griffin after the fight and for him manning up and apologizing to the Ferrtitas and White for being a greedy bastard and holding out for the last year.
Watching Sherk and Diaz was like watching two kids have a pillow fight. Sure it was fun but there was now way they were going to hurt each other while striking. Sherk landed far more blows and rightfully won the decision.
I am so disappointed in AA. I thought the fight was over when he connected to Sylvia's jaw but once Sylvia got back up, you could tell he recovered pretty quickly. AA is such a competent fighter and yet he charged in recklessly to finish off the Maine-iac when Sylvia was obviously not as hurt as he thought. AA practically knocked himself out when he walked into that short uppercut.
Parysian brought his A game last night. Beautiful throws (Yay Judo!) and some brutal elbows ended it in the first round. It's weird that Parysian was scheduled to fight Hughes 2 months ago for the belt and then was fighting on a prelim fight last night. It was a much better fight than Sherk vs Diaz. If Karo can keep working his striking, which leaves much to be desired, he may be ready for some more top notch bouts. That weight class is so heavy with talent, including Penn, GSP and Hughes, he'll need to really pick up his game to be ready.
ONLY ONE MORE MONTH UNTIL HUGHES VS. GRACIE!
