First pic - very nice, but I would have prefered the whole car in the pic or at least not cropping off the bottom of the front rim, the models toes and the lower edge of the front spoiler.
Second pic - very nice!
Third pic - love the composition but it looks a bit underexposed - if you have the raw just tweak the exposure a bit - I think it will pop - if it gets a bit light then add a little saturation.
Fourth - nice but I might like to see a bit more depth of field (smaller aperture).
Fifth - nice style but again, why cut her feet off?

On the first pic, I was trying to focus on her rather than the car, per se. I shot it shallow to try and bring her out as sharp as possible since we were shooting into a shadow. I had the white balance set for shade, which I think helped some. I was shooting in full manual too, which I tried to bracket some shots by over/under exposing depending on what I saw in the viewfinder. I think I also wasn't all that crazy about her footwear, so I subconciously (sp?) croped it out...
Second, that's actually one of my favorites. It was shot at the wrong time of the day (as I had direct sunlight) but I cranked it down a couple of stops and took it. Again, I was trying to practice that day with full manual mode. Some pics turned out horribly over/under exposed because I'm not used to checking the metering before every shot. I am now, but that's after a full day of practicing it. I'll get better at it eventually.
Third, you are exactly right. As I mentioned before I was trying to shoot full manual and playing with the exposure levels. That one was shot just before the second pic, and I was trying to shade the car out of direct sunlight. The meter was reading the backlight off the back wall. So I had to crank down on the exposure about a full stop if I remember correctly. Maybe I should've trusted the cam's meter a little more. What I really should've done is shot 2-3 more pics just like it, but changing the exposure in each. I kinda liked that pic too. It does look a little better in it's full resolution. Photobucket for some reason shrunk them way down, so that exaggerates the exposure some too.
Fourth and Fifth, you're right. I was shooting with a very shallow DOF all day. I'm very partial to that if I'm being honest. I've always liked the subject to be clear and the rest by the way side. Sometimes it works and sometimes I regret it. That's one of the things I have to work on. I shot all day at 2.8 and 5.6.
The model was actually about 25 feet in front of the car. I was on my belly taking the last shot. I was trying to stay as still as possible because it was asking to be shot at like 1/20 if I remember correctly. It was very cold and she was freezing. She did great staying still. In between takes, her BF would rush up and put a coat on her. So I was trying to hurry up and shoot as fast as possible, but with freaking 1/20 it's hard to rush too much.
I do have to work on my DOF. Like I said, I'm partial to a very shallow shot most of the time unless I'm trying to do something different.
Thanks for the advice Paul.
