Make sure the battery cover door is fully closed and clicks into place.

I don't have that camera, but some standard things to try-

I assume you have removed the batteries, but if not, do. Put some new batteries in (sometimes they just don't charge up anymore)

Make sure any switches and stuff haven't moved out of position.

Is there a reset button of any type? Wil holding down the power switch reset? If taking the batteries out doesn't do it, remove any backup battery for a few minutes (many cameras have a small backup battery so you don't lose settings when you remove the regular batteries).

Plug in an AC power source if you have one to see if the power source is the problem.

Batteries in the right orientation/direction?

Try some regular AAs instead of rechargeables,

Are you turning on an image playback mode instead of a 'take pictures' mode?

Is the lens mechanism in any way obviously 'stuck'?
