Those with LMS Intake

For everyone who has installed the LMS Intake, did you guys leave the ram air box on or take it off. I'm refering to the black plastic thing that is right up front in the engine bay and directs air to the intake. I was wondering if you would get more air flow to the intake by not having it there...

Actually the air flows pretty well through that snorkel an directs it right onto the air filter. I think the best solution to getting the most cool air to the LMS intake is to create a wall around the intake filter so that most of the air is drawn from the forward part of the car and not the aft where the air is warmer due to engine heat. Anyone here a design engineer and want to create something like this for us?

Something similar to this would be very beneficial.

that should help up until the engine is ccompletely heated up,
then i think all it would do is constrict air, unless it was almost
airtight (which you know it won't be), and unless the plastic was
coated with some kind of cermamic heat resistant material, Its
just a thought..

plastic itself is is pretty resistant to conducting heat, wouldnt need a coating. I wonder if theres enough space anywhere in the engine bay to make a real CAI without cutting holes

I left it on there because like you said it "directs air to the intake"
