Default When to do first oil change?

Just got my car last week and I'm wondering when I should perform the first oil change. I heard that it's advisable to change it at 1,000 miles since there's a lot of tiny metal particles that build up during the engine break-in period. What do you guys suggest?

My first oil change was when the dealer did a free 5K check-up/oil change at 4500 miles.

If it was MY brand new Lexus, it'd be getting changed at 1k. there are metal shavings and assembly lubes in brand new motors.

Just to be safe I'll probably do it at 1k miles.

there's a lot of debate about this...and some will argue that changing the oil this early on will only prolong your break in period. Some of this propaganda is perpetuated by the oil industry...cars these days are manufacturered under very very tight tolerances etc that these metal shavings etc is inconsequential to the motor...if that logic is to hold true, shouldnt you be changing out your tranny fluid as well? as there's a lot of moving parts in there and would result in the production of more of these metal shavings?
