Default Tire Pressure Sensor question

Do new tire pressure sensors have to be registered to the car?
I bought 4 new OEM tires which I plan to put on winter tires on. They came with the Yokohama Advans on them and since I have the Dunlop runflats i figured I would give them a test ride to see the difference and then realized later i never registered the TirePS with the car. No warning lights though. So i switch that little switch to the "2" postion same thing JW what the deal is. If the have to be registered why dont i have an error light or do they only transmitt to the car why there is a problem.

there is a switch in the same area under the glove box has a MAIN and a 2 position from what i gather main is for summer tires and if you are change you wheel and using new tire pressure transmitters they would be register under 2. Aparently i am worng becuase i never registered anything and no warning lights lit up.

Just wanted to update on this. The light came on today (took long enough) went to the dealer to get the sensors registered in the cars computer and found out this. On the Tire sensor is a number that number has to be entered into the computer via the Lexus scan tool. Now of course you have to dismount the tire get the number off the sensor, remount and balance the tire. So I am going to wait for the winter rubber to come in and get the numbers during the swap instead of doing it twice. So if you get new wheels and new sensors make sure you get that number to give to you Lexus dealship before you mount the rubber.
