Actually it would be the 53rd state. Puerto Rico is already the 51st and Mexico the 52nd. El Salvador and Guatamala will eventually be the 54th and 55th.

I thought it was voted that Puerto Rico wouldnt become the 51st state. I also never heard about Mexico becoming a state.
