So Im watching the 9/11 Special on National Geographic, and I get to thinking...
Why the hell are we screwing with these "new" terrorist in Iraq, why didn't we pound the taliban and Al Queda in Afghanistan into the ground, then pound them again. I cant help but feel upset knowing that we still havent got Osama, or several other key terrorist that helped plan and carry out attacks against America on our soil... Why didn't we let Saddam wait just a little bit longer?... and just keep pounding away in Afghanistan?
Bad decisions

Thats right... but thats a war, this was an attack to provoke a war, we gave them a good fight, then.. I dont know... lost interest? Why are we not aggressively going at the remaining taliban in Afghanistan? There are reports that the taliban is now reforming in Afghanistan...
We as Americans have lost thousands of good lives in the past 5 years... for me, its time for a change in ideas and leadership.

It was a great special. I learned many things that I probably would have known if I had actually read the 9/11 report I purchased.
Those terrorists piss me off.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that these fools used our own resources (universities, flight schools, human rights) against us.

Do you really think you are fully AWARE of all that is being done in Afghanistan? Do you think that foreign media are knowledgeable of covert ops taking place there? Think about it...........whenever the news reports of someone's capture, were the specifics of the hunt broadcast all over the news in the days or months leading to the capture? OF COURSE NOT!
Stop complaining about when the troops are coming home and start supporting their efforts to keep your butts safe here in the States!

The IS still a war on in Afghanistan
Are you watching the news? 4 Navy Seals in covert op in Afghanistan 2 months ago. Only 1 escapes alive. The single greatest loss of life EVER on a Seal Team. They were near a very high-priority target which is why the were so easily captured. The security must have been horendous to capture these fine men. They were after either Osama or someone close to him.
The liberal media would like you to think that we shifted resources from Afghanistan to Iraq, when the truth is, we didn't have to "shift" anything. We are still carrying out operations on a daily basis in Afghanistan.

Hey, Im not complaining about the jobs that the troops do. I stand fully behind the men and women on the ground willing to fight. My issue is with the people calling the shots for the troops, the Administration.
Look at the facts..., how many troops are in Afghanistan right now... Look at the growing size of the insurgency in Afghanistan... Look at the rise back to power that the taliban is currently undergoing... Now tell me that the people planning that war have not "abandoned" the original effort after only 2 years or so.
The people planning this war had good intentions, but their priorities have changed, and I just dont agree with the quickness of that shift. I think that we let them off fairly easy, considering they were the second country ever to lead an air attack against the US?
edit- your right vegas, I toned it down a bit... I jumped the gun and let my emotions show through my argument.

Wow! Did you take debate lessons from SharpLS? You're sure angry like he was.
Knock off the typical right wing tactic of saying someone is "not supporting the troops" if they disagree with you. It's a lame arguement at best. Noone here is knocking the troops. Get it through your head. We're criticizing the people who put our fine troops in harms way.

sorry Vegas, I'm not angry, just came off wrong.
I just meant that just because the media says there are x number of troops in Afghanistan doesn't mean squat. Secret ops are just that..........secret, meaning, we don't know they're there.

I 1000% support our millitary, they have a hell of a job to do what they are rightly and WRONGLY instructed to do by our government. They didn't choose to go to war, Iraq, or anywhere else,... a man and group of other men like him, who sit 1000's of miles away from danger, harm, and death pawn them off to settle their disagreeances with other men like them.
I am angry about the choice of how they chose to attack our "terrorist" and how many lives that choice is costing. I don't care about no political correctness,.... I would have pretended not to care, and just outright assassinated Bin Laden and his following, while increasing our security.
I don't care how you cut it,.. Bush has just started a never-ending war, which is just going to deteriorate this world's peace and safety, break up whatever last alliances we had, eventually lead to the last world war and end us all.

I don't think it was Bush that started the war. 9/11 was an act of war comitted by those who want to eliminate America, likewise for the terrorist bombings of '93 WTC and the embassy/USS Cole attacks. Extremists declared war a long time ago. They statred it, and we'll finish it. It may take several years or decades, but ultimately the US will prevail so long as we stick to our guns and not back down.
Yeah we really need to take out Bin Laden, should have done it back in the 90's when we had him handed to us on a silver platter.

Or Reagan could have done something... like not arming him. Just a crazy suggestion?
