Question

Anyone here ever gone to a professional detailer to have your car's interior superclean? If so, how was it after . Was it worth the money or no?

Thanks.

I have but did not have good results. Using Zaino and putting some effort into made the car look awesome while going to the detailer I did not like the results.

I think it should count where you go as well.....

Yes Mkilty, I agree that where you go is a big concern !! You ever taken it to the Lexus Dealer to have it detailed?

I've heard good/bad news about it. More bad than good.

Andy- I had a wonderful expierence when I had my '98 BLACK corvette detailed, but the place I took it too was awesome. It really depends on where you take it to. I was charged I think like $200 or less...interior and exterior cleaning...shampoo etc...Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks Mike !! Its time for me to do some research into detailing stores around here. I think every car should be professionally detailed at least twice a year.

In Atlanta the detailers come to you.

We have several that will come to my office and detail my car in the parking lot while I'm at work. They'll do anything from wash/vacuum/windows to a full detail.

As far as I'm concerned this is the way to go.

Actually, 10 years ago when I lived in NYC there were places in the burbs that would do it and also some of the Manhattan garages had guys to do detailing while your car was parked there during the day. I recall it was damn expensive!! Didn't have it done much. I'll bet there are some around, but I'd look at them very carefully before I'd let them touch my GS.

I'm glad to hear that you were a New Yorker !! What part of NYC did ya live in? I know in Manhatten the apartment for rent is skyrocketing BIG TIME. Luckily I got my house in a good area in brklyn when the time was right.

Lived on the west side for almost 20 years. W 69th and W 68th. Moved in B4 the gentrification was in full swing. When I moved onto W 69th some people were still afraid to come to the neighborhood to visit. Bought the apartment on W 68th when the building went co-op. Got a great insider deal. Hope my ex-wife is enjoying it.

 whoa that sucks! Any reason you moved outta NYC? I wouldn't blame ya, I had ideas of getting outta here sometimes too . Before I got my house, I was thinking of living in the upper west side but the amount of $$$ that they wanted was outrageous. A studio apartment goes for WELL over $1500+ a month from what I last checked. You ever came back to visit and do you still have relatives here ?

I moved from NYC because it was time to. I had been in the NY metro area most of my life having grown up in East Meadow. And the last 20 years were in NYC. I was growing tired of the subways and the congestion and the pace (never realized how stressed I was until several months after leaving). Slogging thru the rain and snow and standing on 120 degree subway platforms in the summer were getting old.

It was time to go so I started looking for companies based in either AtL or San Fran. Got a job as NE regional sales manager for a company based in Atlanta and got promoted to VP Sales a year later. They moved me down in '90. Left the wife in the apartment in NYC and I've been here since.

Still have some family on Long Island. I've been up to NYC a few times on business and I visited the family a few years ago while up there on business. Would be nice to go back again, but so far no compelling reason to...and not enough vacation time to use it seeing relatives.

I have a great deal going with my local Lexus prep guy. They do a full "Blitz" which is a total car detail for about $50-$60. This is direct with the prep guys tho. If you were to go thru the dealer is would be 3x-4x more. This way the money goes right to the guys instead of the dealer getting 80-90% of the money. The use CarKraft products which are pretty good. I've seen their stuff used at many dealerships. Hope all goes well for you!
