Cold-Eze Green Tea flavor! The directions say tke one every 6 hours or something. Instead, take one like every hour. It's natural so it won't hurt you. make sure NOT to take or drink any vitamin C. You'll be better in a couple days.
Otherwise, a shot of scotch at night is good....

Zicam works very good for me, it cuts the cold basically in half. Kinda $$ though but it works. Oh its over the counter.

Alka-Seltzer-plus...or the cheaper generic tablets with the same ingredients.....helps calm the symptoms down and make you feel better.

This is bad logic. Cyanide is natural too but that doesn't mean you can take it as often as you'd like. Same with crude oil. That is natural and I don't recommend ingesting any of that either.

Contrary to public belief, herbal remedies are not safer. These products are not approved by the FDA and never tested.

This is what my wife swears by. It is actually better for preventative (meaning use it when you think a cold is coming on) but it also shortens the length of the cold.

It's homeopathic, which I prefer than usual "drug" cold remedies. The thing is though, you gotta start eating them right when symptoms first start or I feel like it doesn't help.

Post Non-prescrip relief

Yeah, ask the folks that took Ephedra . . .

Zicam seems to work well for many - if caught in the earliest stages of the cold. Airborne is another zinc-containing product that has been particularly effective for me, preventing full development of the cold if taken early enough, shortening duration a bit if taken later. It's a good choice if you hesitate to snort your meds. The downside of many of the zinc-containing lozenges like Cold-Eze is that after two or three, they leave me with the taste of an old D-cell battery in my mouth that lasts for hours.

Alka Seltzer Plus is great! for suppression of cold symptoms without making me groggy, it's the best. . . IF you can stand the awful "lemon" taste. Lemons like that could make you give up martinis.

Be careful of using any unfamiliar multi-ingredient or "multi-symptom" product. Some contain barely sub-prescription levels of powerful products. If you are sensitive to any of them, it can put you down for the count. One shot of Nyquil will put me down for about three days.

If you suffer from head congestion, my wife got this little formula from one of her doctors several years ago:
  1. Microwave (or warm) a cup of water until it is warm, but not hot enough to burn.
  2. Dissolve about a teaspoon of ordinary table salt in the warm water. Add a little more salt until it fails to dissolve - you have created a super-saturated solution. Allow to cool until it is just pleasantly warm.
  3. Have an open box of tissues handy (you are about to need them).
  4. Pour a teaspoon of the salt solution in the palm of your hand, and while closing one nostril with a finger of the other hand, snort the solution.
  5. Repeat other nostril and as necessary.
  6. You will experience almost immediate relief of swollen membranes as osmosis works for you, attempting to dilute the salty solution.
It's messy, but effective. Use as often as you require. You can't overdose, and it's essentially free. The hard part is screwing up your courage to intentionally inhale saltwater. Don't worry, you won't drown - although when the congestion is relieved, you may think you are drowning.

The effect is like a good wipeout in moderate surf. And you have that fresh tang of saltwater in your nose for the next twenty minutes . . . you feel like you've been to the beach!

Now, don't you feel better?

What's with all the scarcasm? Richie asked for our opinions and everybody gave their own opinion. Cocaine is natural too, but I'm not gonna snort that crap. Bottom line, everyone has their own true remedy, take what works best for you.
