shall issue license plates as required by the law in effect
immediately before the effective date of this article, and the
former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 9.03. This article takes effect September 1, 2005.
Of all the years and cars I've owned here, I have received just two tickets for this, both of which were dismissed by me rigging a plate up taking a picture and presenting it to the court. BUT... What a pain in the azz is that? :icon22: So now after ALL these years, come @ 90 days, that B.S. is over! What is so ridiculous is that TONS of cars roll around without them everyday, particularly the MANY nice cars that in the N. Dallas/Plano area (I know TX has nice cars everywhere though). Let's be real who in their right mind wants to deface their beloved rolling works of art? Not I, hell... since I MUST have a plate in the rear, I have had "personalized plates" since 1992!

thats awesome!! Seriously though, cops would use the missing front plate as a reason to pull you over to see what you were doing. I was pulled over 3 times for "no front plate" as they said but every time they wanted to ask tons of questions and all. I never even got written warnings, they were all verbal. If you are gonna take the time to pull my butt over, atleast give me some paperwork! Cant a young guy drive a nice car without being suspicious?

It's nice that the legislature saw things your way. But......like I said long ago in other threads on this same subject...the correct way to handle a two-plate law is to obey it and work for change legally like this....NOT to openly flout it by driving with only one plate. That is just asking for trouble, and a judge is not likely to be very symphathetic to it.
