Haha, I think I' ve already gotten used to having 280hp on my G35c & 300 hp on my Lexus, so I probably won't be happy with getting "only " 245 hp on the GS300, especially the AWD.
However, even when I was driving 4 cylinder Honda's years ago, I haven't "struggled up mountain grades", it's all relative . . .

I wish Lexus (and any other performance car manufacturer for that matter) would release videos of their cars doing the 0-60 runs in which their claimed acceleration times are achieved, so to end all debates of whether or not a specific car really runs as fast as its manufacturer claims.
The article praised the car for its interior, features, refinement, and Levinson stereo, as is
However, the article also hinted that the GS300 is lacking in power, stating that the car "struggled" up mountain grades.
Any AWD car that can do 7.2 0-60...especially under less-than-ideal conditions......should not have any trouble 'Strugging" up any reasonable mountain grade. And especialy with five or six gears in the automatic....and a sport-shift besides....finding the right gear for it shouldn't be much of a problem.
I test-drove this exact car...a GS300 AWD..... on a fairly lengthly test-drive several weeks ago (See my thread and write-up) and found the power perfectly adequate for all normal driving and grades.
While I have respect for the fact that they are professionals, Motor Trend has never impressed me as a good auto magazine....certainly not along the lines of, say, Car and Driver.

I wish.
There's always a disclaimer on those 0-60 times they printed on the brochures
The times the mags get can vary a lot too.

As far as I know, this is the first test number for the GS300, RWD or AWD.
The article praised the car for its interior, features, refinement, and Levinson stereo, as is virtually universally the case.
It also called the new 3.0 V6 a technological "marvel", because of its multiple variable valve timing and efficiency.
However, the article also hinted that the GS300 is lacking in power, stating that the car "struggled" up mountain grades.
Thanks. Hey that time is not bad at all, considering it does has less power than most rivals and the AWD is heavier than the RWD. Add the benefits of top in class gas mileage and this engine is fine until the 3.5 comes.
