Default GS430- more "BMW" than GS300?

So I was upset that the GS300 ride wasn't as sporty as I wanted- like my current BMW. The Infiniti M35 was very "BMW" like in drive, but UGLY.

So now I am curious-- is the GS430 in the various suspension modes, a "BMW" feeling sportier car than the GS 300?

Originally I wanted an AWD car because of the snow problems I had with my BMW..... but then I realized that the BMW is FWD and perhaps a RWD car (not AWD) would be adequate for the snow we get in Pennsylvania.

Any thoughts?

BMW is not FWD. FWD and RWD will be okay in the winter if you invest a set of snow tires for the snowy months. My FWD Acura, Nissan are okay in the winter with just the stock four-season tires.

Not even close my 2000 528 non sport. handles. brakes & steers better than gs430/ closer ride to bmw is m45 sport. But it is ugly inside & out.

Read my review
http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-third-generation/156740-1sickreview-driving-vvtis-gs-430-with-legendary-riding-shotgun-pics.html

I've driven tons of BMWs, and there is no one else that can totally be like a BMW, especially if the BMW is a stick. But the GS 430 with sport engaged, is IMO as solid a handler as a E39 540. Its just the Lexus is more isolated, that fools you to think it does not handle as well.

Give it a shot in some backroads and you will see.

I felt the same way when I test drove the GS430. Much better than the previous generation, but still not good enough, but maybe that is what Lexus wants.

Lexus will never be like an BMW. BMWs are more sport-tuned and Lexus designs cars that are meant to be luxurious. And like 1SICKLEX said, since Lexus designs it's cars to seperate the driver from the road, you're perception will be that it is not handling like a BMW so it isn't handling as well as it should.

If you want that connection with the road and that tightness in suspension, then get a BMW. If you want a quiet cabin and a feeling of isolation from everything outside, including the road, then get a Lexus.

I would love to have my GS perfom like a BMW, but then again, I'd probably want that isolation and the quiet ride, since I don't race my cars everyday.

Yes- drive the RL AWD. Don't listen to what people say. Don't get all the 's - it is solid powerful, and quiet, comfortable.

Use the sport pandles and- wow it turns a "grandfather ride" into a M5 worthy component. Maybe that is why. Amazing. Yeh ---.

that much better than gs300. both seem to float. I think steering on gs300 is more direct than gs430/. Also brakeson gs430 stop car, but not with same feel and modulation that bmw have. Lexus is designed for another markect. If yuj want a BMW, buy one.Cclosest car Ii've driven to bmw is m45. But it is plain ugly . interior more so than exterior. If you do by BMW , remember you get lack of reliability. Ask me I own one,
