I have the light grey interior on my RX330 which I think is similar to the other grey Lexus interiors. My first choice was black but at my dealer it would have been a 3 month special order. Anyway, I like the looks (Still prefer black) but it does show dirt. You definately have to keep it clean as it doesn't really hide any dirt.

Yes. Black is always my first choice. I don't mind my grey because a lot of the interior is black like the dash, top part of the door panels, steering wheel and such. This is my wifes car so it wasn't worth the 3-4 month wait for the black. If it were my car though i would have gotten the black.

I would say the blacl/light grey interior has a nice classy look, while the black is more sporty. I always lean toward sport.

Yeah black is the best color. Black doesn't get dirty looking like the other colors, it's sporty, which is a must, and the color of the wood that comes with the black interior is beautiful.

i would pick ivory because or some reason, in a car interior i like light colors because it brings out the luxury side of it, but if the gs came in saddle interior like the one in the sportdesign gs, LS430, and SC430. i would most definetly pick that, to bad lexus didnt make that an option, that would be hott in the GS

Black. I had the slate (grey) interior on my previous Lex and had some work to do to keep it clean; even so, the seat base picked up shoe scuff marks which were never completely eradicated. If Lexus would use a significantly darker grey, I'd be tempted.

Ivory on my very first Lex plus both of the wife's RXs. It looks quite classy; it is also a royal pain to keep clean.

Blackblackblack, since I'd rather drive than clean.

this is probably like the ivory being offered now. It's held up very well and while needed a cleaning now it has a nice patina. We'll probably get the same color on the Gen 3

To each their own, but I did not like gray at all! The car I drove was grey interior and the black wood did nothing for the car! :nono: :nono: . Maybe it was because it was dark out, but even at that it looked odd  . However, lexus' ivory and golden birdseye maple is beautiful in my beloved GX so I might just go down that road again :) . Black looks sharp from pics, but I love giving my cars an airy-open/at the beach feel which is done best with ivory.

I think he meant Flint Mica - 1E0 from the LS. ;) Ahh! So he did. In that case, yes, the Flint Mica on the GS is indeed the same color code, and moreover, really does look identical by my eye--in direct side-by-side viewing, to that of the LS.

And just a counter-opinion to those who do not favor the Ash interior, I was quite taken by it, having finally sat in it for a while in the daylight, but the combination with Flint Mica did nothing for me. So I ordered the car with Black exterior/Ash. The only question is, when will they build any like that!

If I were to consider buying the new GS, I will pick among these 4 exterior colors : Flint Mica, Quartz shadow, Blue Onyx & Matador Red. I'll take a black interior with the first 3, & the ivory with the red. I neither like the grey leather nor the black wood that comes with it.

I've got the ivory color in my '06 GS300 that I've had for a week.. Black is out for me because I like to drive with shorts on occasionally and don't need to be frying my legs if I can help it.. Based on what others have said about the darker colors not hiding the dirt any better, I think I made the right choice. Also -- I really didn't like the grey leather with black wood package -- too dark for me..

I was talking to my brother-in-law (BIL) and his main peeve with leather seating is that your butt sticks to the seats on those hot days.. That was true when I owned a 1982 ZX300 (Nissan) that had leather, but I'm hoping that with the ventilated seats in the GS that the sticking issue wont be an issue.. I guess I'll find out come summer.. (8->

My BIL would be more interested in buying a lexus with a nice fabric seating system -- something I'm sure will never happen.. Now, if the sticking butt issue isn't present, perhaps his mind will be changed on that one issue.. :)

I am currently about to close my deal on gs300 AWD glacier frost/ ash gray.

My previous car had black leather interior. Black is nice. Low maintenance color for interior. However, I did find it to feel a bit claustrophobic at times.

I wanted an open airy feel this time so I chose the gray instead of cashmere beige because I am sure that the gray is not as high maintenance as the beige.

I personally think the interior cashmere is ugly just liek the chardonnay pearl color.

Its just so bland. It looks so awkward to have this type of car in a "elegant?" color like beige. Id understand it if it was a more of a "big" LS type car or some Mercedes S class. Personally the gray and black perfectly accentuate the appearance of this car and look very well for the part. Cashmere just sticks out there with no purpose. The gray and black make it look fierce and bold - the purpose it intends.

I honestly dont see what ppl see in the color. Is it because it is decent and just popular?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know why I love the Cashmere interior. It makes the cabin open and airy feeling without being too "cold" (Ash) or "confining" (Black). I've had two cars back to back w/ black interiors and was ready for a change. The black is the sportiest, but I'm not crazy about the red wood trim. The Ash is nice and was my second choice, but the dark gray stained wood trim just blends in and didn't provide enough contrast IMHO. It's a good choice for those who are looking for something monochromatic. The Cashmere on the other hand was warm and inviting. The stain on the wood trim looks the most natural with the Cashmere too. It's all just a matter of opinion anyway. You only live once...get what you like and don't worry about what others think.

On a side note, does anyone else wish Lexus offered the GS with more interior colors? I love the subtle, pale green and deep redish brown that BMW offers on their cars.

My ideal color choice for the GS would have to be Black with red leather interior (like on the SC pebble edition interior leather) or the interior color red thats on the bmw 5 series like jwaters mentioned..i agree with him on that one too. That is a NICE looking red as well.

That would be one NICE looking car!

To bad they dont offer it....perhaps they may in the next eyar or so as a "sport package option"?

Any thoughts?

I'm all for the Black/red combo of the current Pebble Beach Edition SC430 for the new GS, but too much red in the interior as it is now, they should at least put in black carpets instead of the red carpets it has now.

Just wanted to know if the black leather made it easier to see scratches cuz I've noticed some cars with black leather tend to get really dirty and scratched up...and then the leather starts looking old...i dunno...maybe my question should be does the leather stay in the same condition for 2-3 years without any creases...i remember reading that bmw leather although it doesn't look as good as the lexus ones...actually stay in the same condition for over 4-5 years... ....oh well...heh i am still deciding black or grey for my gs450h...but i think i picked grey with the black wood trim...i forget... :p

I have the ash interior on my car. I initially wanted the black interior to contrast with the silver exterior. However, the black interior would have been a 3 month special order. There was a silver/ash 430 on the lot and I like the look of that combination after seeing it in person. After taking delivery, I do like the ash interior a lot. The contrast that I was looking for was provided with the black dash and panels that are above the armrests. I also do like the black wood. Seems very sleek to me. However, I do notice that it makes it easy to see fingerprints and scratches. I put a small scratch in the armrest panel when putting on my seatbelt. Some quick buffing with Plastix took care of that. I also have black floor mats, to no issues yet with keeping the ash floor mats from showing scuff marks.

Overall I am very happy with my color choice. Now if I could only get the service department to hurry up and take care of the rattles in the front doors and the pulsing sound when applying the brakes (which is believed to be a result of rust on the rotors). They want another day with the car. Been in the shop since Wednesday and they just called and want to keep it at least to tomorrow!. Geez.

I went to the dealer yesterday to decide which interior I liked more. I sat in a black and grey one and ultimately I liked the grey a lot more. I liked the contrast on the dash board between the colors. I felt that the black interior was just too black for me and didn't like the reddish hue of the wood. When it comes down to it, you can't lose either way. My first choice for color combo is blue/grey and then black/grey. Unforuntately I think it may have to be special ordered.

The short answer to a short question: Black.

The long answer to a short question...

My previous Lexus (02 ES-300) was Blue Onyx with Tan interior. I like the tan a lot, especially when paired with the right wood. Just oozes luxury and comfort. Very serene and calming. As for keeping it clean, I really didn't have a lot of trouble. Yeah, the floor mats show wear quicker, and the driver's door arm rest darkened from my leather coat over the four years I had it. But other than that, it held up pretty well, even with two kids in car seats in the back.

I used to hate the grey leather that Lexus used to offer (dull, dull, dull!). When I found an intriguing deal on a used 06 GS430 (white with ash interior), I had reservations on the color scheme. Don't usually like white, but Lexus does the best white I've seen. But from the pictures I was kinda liking the ash. When I test drove a GS300 (fllint mica with ash interior), I really liked the ash---it brightens up the interior nicely while still having some sense of sportiness. I also liked the black maple a lot---I wish the black interior had that as an option. I would be concerned about keeping it clean however.

But for me, the GS is all about sport. So while the tan interior is gorgeous, it's more appropriate on an LS or ES. So I went back to black this time around (blue onyx on black). Only downside is that dust shows up more easily, but is otherwise the easiest to care for. I just wish that black maple was an option, as I'm pretty ambivalent about the red walnut they use in the black interior.

drck1000
03-08-06, 10:22 AM
One thing about the black maple is that marks on the surface are easier to see because of the dark backing. So far, I've had to buff out two minor scratches on the center panel near the opening to the armrest compartment. One was from me not being careful putting my seatbelt one and the other I believe was when I had my car in for service. Nothing that Plastix couldn't take care of though. But when I had a loaner RX330 with the sort of orangish maple, it was pretty swirled up and I couldn't really tell until you looked closely or with the light at a certain angle.

I do like the ash with black color combination though. I do have black floor mats, so the mats don't show the wear as much. I just hope over the long term that it's an easy combination to take care of.

I was so close to go with the grey, just to get the black wood. I'm so glad I ended p with the black. I could control myself from kicking the kick panel, but guests in the car won't be as curtious and I would probable end up with a "black interior" anyways after a while.... Looks much classier in black in my opinion.

I chose grey w/black dash and accents.

The grey seems more evenly colored than cash and black iteriors. Aside from that my wife favors beige/cashmere over black or grey. Grey is more neutral.

 Beige seems hard to keep clean; IMO black, even though initially it doesn't seem, is even more harder to keep clean.

Black is a dark/handsome manly color. Don't quote me, but I read somewhere, a long while back, that darker colors tend to alter ones mood. Darker colors tend to put one in a dark mood.

Grey/Sterling Silver seems more sleek and sexy; therefore, I have to go with Sterling Silver/Grey.

BLACK interior is always my FIRST CHOICE, but it is all depends on the Lexus.

Initially I ordered my GS350 GFM with BLACK interior, waited for 5 fxxking months. Dealer still did not receive confirmation from Lexus factory in Japan. So on my BD, I went ahead and got the GFM with ASH instead.

Even though, ASH is not a bad color for the interior, but it is pain to keep it clean. Also black wood get scratched easily, if not careful.

From time to time, I still thinking of special order another GFM with BLACK and trade in my GFM with ASH… Still debating…Let’s see how the 2008 model would look like…:D :D :D

I would say the best all around is black but as pointed out it doesn't have the luxury look of the grey. I have grey and it will show more obviously. We have two kids ages 7 & 3 but the kid mover is a Navigator for now. The kids are in my car maybe 20% of the time.
